Famous Make Up Artists

· Kevyn Aucoin. Kevyn Aucoin was probably the most famous and beloved of all make up artists in recent history. His client list included Madonna, Sharon Stone, Cindy Crawford, Barbra Streisand and Brittney Spears, plus hundreds and hundreds more supermodels and celebrities. This make up industry giant worked as a make up artist from the age of 21 until his death at age 40 last year.

· Bobbi Brown. Bobbi Brown launched her popular make up line (Bobbi Brown Essentials) about 10 years ago with 10 Lipsticks and a philosophy that women "want to look and fee like themselves, only prettier and more confident." The make up line has expanded considerably since then, and this industry player, whose make up artistry clients have included Meg Ryan, Susan Sarandon, Brooke Shields and Drew Barrymore, now concentrates on helping non-celebrities to look their best.

· Laura Mercier. Laura, who started a make up line bearing her name in 1996, is known to be a close personal friend of Madonna, a supplier of her full line of Lipsticks to Celine Dion, and also Susan Sarandon's personal make up artist. Laura Mercier is French, and is probably most widely known for her VHS tape called, "The Flawless Finish."

· Alexis Vogel. Alexis Vogel boasts a client list of over 200 celebrity models and actresses, and owns her own signature make up line and "system." She not only directs all make up for the hit show American Idol, but is also credited with creating Pamela Anderson's "sex kitten" look that brought her to fame. Alexis has worked for fashion shows, and magazines that range from Vogue to Playboy throughout her 20 year career.

· Trish McEvoy. Back in the 70's, New York make up artist Trish McEvoy identified a void in the huge cosmetics industry. There were plenty of cosmetics available, but there were few tools (meaning make up brushes) to help women to apply make up to look their best. Trish created professional quality make up brushes and marketed them to the mass consumer. Decades later, her company is still growing, with a full line of skin care, cosmetics and fragrances, not to mention her signature Planner and make up kits.
